EU Safe Harbor Participation
Collection and Use of EU Personal Data
From its customers of the Covered Services, TCS may collect a phone number of a mobile subscriber and the subscriber’s current location (“Contact Data”) for purposes of providing Assisted GPS information to mobile applications that the mobile subscriber has opted to utilize on the subscriber’s mobile device. Assisted GPS information is used by the mobile application to locate quickly a GPS satellite in order to obtain a precise location coordinate. Except for the company that provides the mobile application (the “Mobile Application Provider”) that the mobile subscriber has opted to utilize and potentially, the subscriber’s wireless carrier, TCS will not share the EU Personal Data with any other third party for any other purposes.
TCS considers the protection of all EU Personal Data we receive as critical to our corporate mission. Please be assured that we have security measures in place to protect against the loss, misuse, and alteration of any personal information we receive. Upon customers’ request, EU Personal Data received from Mobile Application Providers may be encrypted using the Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) protocol. Our security procedures are TL 9000 quality certified as well as ISO 9000 certified.
Data Integrity and Access
TCS makes reasonable efforts to keep EU Personal Data reliable, accurate, current and complete for its intended use. Because the Contact Data are intended to be used directly by mobile applications in order to provide assistance in locating GPS satellites and not by human personnel or third parties, it is not technically feasible to provide mobile subscribers with the opportunity to access, review or correct their own Contact Data. However, mobile subscribers may contact their Mobile Application Provider to opt out of the mobile application in order to prevent any future Contact Data containing their information from being transmitted to TCS’ Covered Services. Mobile subscribers may contact TCS to remove any existing Contact Data related to their mobile number and address any privacy issues by sending us an email to email@example.com. TCS will respond to the request within 30 days.
TCS may, however, disclose EU Personal Data where required or permitted by law, where TCS believes that such disclosures are appropriate in connection with a law enforcement request or otherwise permitted by the EU Safe Harbor, or in order to investigate, prevent, or take action regarding illegal activities or suspected fraud.
If you have any questions about this EU Safe Harbor Privacy Statement, or if you would like to request access to EU Personal Data that TCS may maintain about you, please contact us as follows:
Office of the General Counsel
TeleCommunication Systems, Inc.
275 West Street Annapolis, Maryland
Any questions regarding TCS’ EU Safe Harbor Participation should first be directed to TCS as stated above. If you do not receive acknowledgment of your inquiry or your inquiry has not been satisfactorily addressed, you may then contact the American Arbitration Association (http://www.adr.org) for further information.
